Privacy Policy
Small Biz Data, LLC · Effective October 13, 2026
This policy explains what Small Biz Data, LLC ("Small Biz Data," "we," "us") collects through smallbizdata.com and its subdomains, including workbook.smallbizdata.com (together, the "Services"), and how we use it. Small Biz Data is an Illinois limited liability company based in Chicago and an FLCPA AI Venture Studio project. Questions: fred@smallbizdata.com.
1. What We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact form and waitlist: your name, email, company, team size, current systems, message, and (if you took the quiz) your readiness score.
- Workbook app accounts: your name, email, role, and the business information you or your advisor enter, including answers, sign-offs, uploaded files and links to your Google Drive or Sheets.
- Booking a call: details you give our scheduling provider (TidyCal), handled under its own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
- The page you submitted from, the referring site and your browser type, saved with form submissions.
- Usage data through Google Analytics, such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location. Google Analytics uses cookies.
- A few small items stored in your browser so the site works: your light/dark theme choice and whether you've already seen the waitlist popup.
The readiness quiz. The quiz runs in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us unless you submit a form. A shareable results link contains only your coded answers, with no name or email, and anyone with the link can view those results.
2. How We Use It
- To reply to you, schedule calls and assess whether we're a fit.
- To contact you about cohort openings if you joined the waitlist.
- To send occasional updates about the platform, AI and new resources, only if you opted in. Every update includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To deliver client engagements and run the workbook app.
- To understand site traffic and improve the Services.
- To protect the Services, prevent spam and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. AI Features
The workbook app includes AI features that draft workbook sections, import information from files and meeting transcripts, and check readiness. Client information used by these features is processed only by business-tier AI providers whose terms prohibit training their models on your data. AI output is a draft: an advisor reviews it before it becomes part of your workbook or any deliverable. Client engagements are also governed by our Data Processing Agreement.
4. Who We Share It With
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Services, under contracts that limit their use of it:
| Provider type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Hosting and database (Lovable, Supabase) | Run the website and workbook app; store submissions and workbook data |
| Email delivery (Lovable email service) | Send replies, cohort notices and account emails |
| Analytics (Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager) | Measure site traffic |
| Scheduling (TidyCal) | Book calls |
| Cloud storage (Google Workspace) | Store client files and worksheets |
| AI providers (business tier, no training) | Power workbook AI features |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, subject to this policy.
5. Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings or use Google's opt-out tool at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site works without analytics cookies.
6. How Long We Keep It
- Website inquiries and waitlist signups that don't become clients: 24 months from the last contact, then deleted.
- Client and workbook data: for the engagement, then returned or deleted as set out in the client's Data Processing Agreement, except records we must keep for legal or professional reasons.
- Analytics data: under Google Analytics retention settings, set to 14 months.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections, role-based access in the workbook app and access limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop marketing emails, by writing to fred@smallbizdata.com. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law; we will honor them as required.
9. Children
The Services are for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes
We will post updates here and change the effective date. Material changes will be highlighted on the site or sent to clients by email.
